Keepsake Plate Program
Not long before Allie was diagnosed with brain cancer, she
made a handprint ceramic tile and signed her name on it.
This beautiful piece of artwork will always be a treasure to her
family.
Our goal is to allow many children who are
suffering life-threatening illnesses to create keepsakes of
their own.
We bring ceramic plates and tiles along with special paints to hospitals and
help children to paint these tiles with handprints, pictures and
their name. We then take the tiles and have them glazed
and fired to create a lasting piece of artwork for the children
and their families.
In December, 2005, we brought plate painting to Beaumont
Hospital's Pediatric Oncology Christmas party. We helped
over 75 children to paint plates, which we had glazed and fired
and returned to them for a lasting keepsake. The children
loved creating their own artwork on a real plate and couldn't
wait to get the finished product back. The event was fun
for all who attended!
