Allie's Angels
Day
September 22, 2002
Our
kickoff event brought over 250 children together to celebrate
Allie's life and to create 300 deluxe gift bags for children
suffering serious illnesses. The children in attendance
for our first event were friends of Allie and her sisters, as
well as 6 children who are currently suffering life-threatening
illnesses. These six children were our 'Guests of Honor',
and each received his/her own deluxe Allie's Angels gift bag.
The
children each wrote a note and made a picture for a sick child,
and put these into a folder which he/she decorated with colorful
stickers. Next the child decorated a small treasure box,
and selected a polished stone to put inside. With this box
they put a note, 'A healing stone is in this box. It
brings good luck and good wishes, too. Hold this stone,
think good thoughts, and know that we love you!' The
children put these items into a large Allie's Angels gift bag,
and selected over 20 great items to fill the bag. Among
items put in the bags was something Allie loved called 'fairy
spray'. Allie would spray some whenever she was scared or
sad or feeling bad, and it always made her feel better!

Other
activities included air brush face painting, visits with Snow
White in her cottage, art painting station, Wish-Upon-A-Star
game for prizes, games, and music. The children enjoyed
popcorn, cotton candy, and decorated their own angel
cookies. Children were invited to write notes to Allie or
someone they love who is in Heaven. The notes were
attached to balloons which were released at the end of the
event.

Despite
the cold weather, the children all had a great time, celebrated
their friend Allie, and created 300 deluxe gift bags for
seriously ill children.
